history

The first written mention of the village, which was laid out by German colonists in the 13th century, was in 1391. At that time, the place belonged to the sovereign estates of Schönberg and Goldenstein . At the beginning of the 15th century the village was pledged to Čeněk von Lipá . He was followed as owners by Eberhard von Kunstadt , Benesch von Waldstein , Bernhard von Cimburg , Johann Tunkl von Hohenstadt and Johann the Elder von Zierotin .

In 1620 and 1621 there were peasant revolts against the Lords of Zierotin. In 1659 peasant revolts broke out again, which ended in bloody death in 1662 with the execution of three ringleaders. At this time, the witch trials began in Groß Ullersdorf . The 56 women whom the inquisitor Franz Boblig had burned at the stake at the time included eight from Reitendorf. In the first half of the 18th century, the hoof register shows 47 farmers, 32 sitters and 45 kötter for Reitendorf. In 1770 the place consisted of 170 houses. An important trade route led through Reitendorf along the Tess over the Jeseníky Mountains.

In 1829 the Engelsthal glassworks near Winkelsdorf was shut down and a new hut was built below the Groß Ullersdorf castle on the Teß. This started an economic upswing in the village. In 1834 there were 211 residential buildings in Reitendorf. In 1839 the road from Gabel to Troppau was built, which was originally laid out next to the village. When the town was further expanded, there was construction on the street.

After the abolition of patrimonial , Reitendorf an der Tess / Rejpotín formed a community in the Mährisch Schönberg district from 1850 with the settlements Neuhäusl and Neusiedl . Under Josef Schreiber , who acquired the glassworks in 1857, the factory was greatly expanded and developed into a flourishing company. The hut, which initially operated as the Groß Ullersdorf glassworks, was called "Reitendorf glassworks" from 1871. The company J. Schreiber & Neffen brought Czech glassmakers into the business and a Czech minority settled in the place previously only populated by Germans.

Church of the Assumption

Due to the steady growth of the village, the infrastructure also developed. Construction of the church began in 1870 and in 1871 the village was connected to the Hohenstadt - Zöptau local railway. In 1872 a school was built at the glass factory. Between 1872 and 1873 the Moravian Border Railway built the railway from Sternberg via Mährisch Schönberg to Hannsdorf and at the same time took over the local railway line. In 1904 the railway line from Petersdorf an der Teß to Winkelsdorf an der Teß was added. After the First World War, the glass factory was next to Lednické Rovne one of the two remaining works of the glassworks vorm. J. Schreiber & Neffen AG and had 450 employees in 1934. In 1930, 2965 people lived in the village, including 258 Czechs. As a result of the global economic crisis, the glass factory had to stop production in 1935. In the same year all other industrial enterprises in the Teß valley collapsed and mass unemployment led to a clear election victory for the Sudeten German Party .

After the Munich Agreement , the municipality was annexed to the German Reich in 1938. Most of the Czechs left the village and moved inland; only 65 remained in Reitendorf. On October 7, 1938, the Wehrmacht marched into Reitendorf and was cheered by most of the residents. At the same time, 84 residents were arrested by the Gestapo. Until 1945 the community belonged to the Mährisch Schönberg district .

On May 5, 1939, Petersdorf an der Tess and Weikersdorf were incorporated, increasing the population to 6,998. Between 1945 and 1946 the German residents were expelled and the Czechs were resettled. In 1948 Rapotín was incorporated into Šumperk , which was reversed in 1951 after protests by residents. When the Prague Spring was crushed, the Polish Army marched into Rapotín on August 21, 1968 and held the place until August 23. 1985 Rapotín was again incorporated into Šumperk. The community has existed again since 1990. In 1997 the railway line Petrov nad Desnou - Kouty nad Desnou was badly damaged by a flood and then rebuilt.
