Terezín (German Theresienthal ) is a district of the municipality Petrov nad Desnou in the Czech Republic . It is located seven kilometers northeast of Šumperk and belongs to the Okres Šumperk .

Terezín extends southwest of the Jeseníky Mountains in the Rabenseifener Bergland ( Hraběšická vrchovina ) on the left bank of the Desná ( Tess ). The Kamenitý kopec ( Steinigberg , 615 m) rises to the northeast , the Farský vrch ( Trausnitzberg , 628 m) to the east, the Bukový kopec ( Great Hill , 640 m) to the west and the Lázeňský vrch ( Rothenberg , 659 m) to the northwest . The Rapotín glassworks and Velké Losiny Castle are on the opposite bank of the river .

Neighboring towns are Velké Losiny in the north, Maršíkov in the northeast, Štětínov and Sobotín in the east, Petrov nad Desnou in the south, Rapotín in the southwest and Ludvíkov in the northwest.

history

Theresienthal was laid out in 1789 as part of the parceling of the Petersdorf farm belonging to the Wiesenberg estate . The village consisted of two rows of houses on either side of a village street. The settlement was named after Ludwig Anton von Zierotin's second wife , Maria Theresia, née von Schrattenbach . In 1829 the Engelsthal glassworks near Winkelsdorf was shut down and a new hut was built across from Theresienthal an der Tess. In 1834 Theresienthal consisted of 32 houses and had 243 inhabitants.

After the abolition of patrimonial Theresienthal / Terezov formed a district of the community Petersdorf in the district of Mährisch Schönberg and in the judicial district of Wiesenberg from 1850 . In 1871 the railway from Mährisch Schönberg to Zöptau started operations and the Reitendorf train station was built at the Reitendorfer Glashütte. At the end of the 19th century, the Czech name changed to Terezín . In 1921, 203 people lived in 34 houses in Theresienthal.

After the Munich Agreement , Theresienthal was annexed to the German Reich in 1938 and belonged to the Mährisch Schönberg district until 1945 . On May 5, 1939, the village was incorporated into Reitendorf together with Petersdorf an der Tess. After the Second World War, on May 9, 1945, the reorganization to Sobotín and on January 31, 1946 Terezín was again a district of the rebuilt municipality Petrovice nad Desnou. In 1980 Terezín was again incorporated into Sobotín together with Petrov. In 1991 the place had 126 inhabitants. In 2001 the village consisted of 41 houses, in which 124 people lived. Since January 2010, Terezín has belonged to the Petrov nad Desnou municipality.
