The Desná ( German Tess , also Teß ) is a left tributary of the March in the Czech Republic .

It arises in Altvatergebirge as Divoká Desná (Stille tess) ( 50 ° 3 '54 "  N , 17 ° 11' 52"  O ) of five source streams, which came from the valleys between the Divoký ( 1285  m ), Velký Máj ( Large Maiberg , 1384  m ), Kamzičník ( Heiligenhübel , 1420  m ), Vysoká hole ( Hohe Heide , 1464  m ) and the Petrovy Kameny ( Peterssteine , 1438  m ) in 946  m . West of the Praděd in the Desná valley is the reservoir of the Dlouhé Stráně pumped storage plant , the upper basin of which was created on the eponymous Dlouhé Stráně peak on Mravenečník ( anthill ).

As far as Kouty nad Desnou , where the pass road to the Červenohorské sedlo ( Roterbergsattel ) leaves the valley to the north, the course of the river leads to the northwest. The Hučivá Desná (Rauschende Teß), which rises on the western slope of the Červená hora ( Roterberg ), flows into Kouty from the right . From this confluence, the river bears the name Desná and changes its course to the southwest.

Along the Desná are the places Loučná nad Desnou , Maršíkov, Terezín , Rapotín , Vikýřovice , Šumperk , Dolní Studénky , Bludov , Sudkov and Kolšov . At Postřelmov the Desná flows into the March at a height of 282  m .
