Vernířovice (German Wermsdorf ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located 13 kilometers northeast of Šumperk and belongs to the Okres Šumperk . The municipality is a member of the municipal association Svazek obcí údolí Desné .

geography

The village extends in the southwest of the Jeseníky Mountains in the valley of the Merta river and its tributary Kamenný potok ( Krüllbach ). To the north rise the Rudná hora ( Erzberg , 914 m), the Mravenečník ( ant hill or Brünnlberg , 1342 m), Vřesník ( wide ridge , 1342 m), in the northeast of the Velký Máj ( Maiberg , 1385 m), Jelení hřbet ( deer ridge ) , 1367 m) and Břidličná hora ( Schieferhaide , 1358 m). The Dlouhé stráně pumped storage plant is also to the northeast .

Neighboring towns are Sedmidvory in the north, Klepáčov in the southeast, Rudoltice and Sobotín in the south, Štětínov and Terezín in the southwest, Ludvíkov, Velké Losiny and Maršíkov in the west and Filipová in the northwest.

history

The first written mention of the place comes from the year 1558. At that time the village belonging to the rule Groß Ullersdorf was in desolation. Twenty years later, the Lords of Zierotin initiated the repopulation of the mountain village. In the vicinity of Wermsdorf, hematite was mined, which was processed in the Zöptauer ironworks.

On Palm Sunday in 1678, the Wermsdorf beggar Marina Schuch stole the hosts in the Zöptau church during communion. This incident formed the occasion for the witch trials in Groß Ullersdorf .

In 1785 a paper mill was built. After the abolition of patrimonial formed Wermsdorf / Teplice in 1850 with the districts Schwager village, seven houses, Freedom Mountain and Sense corner of a village in the district Šumperk and judicial district Wiesenberg. At the end of the 19th century, in addition to Teplice and Šumberská Teplice , today's name Vernířovice was first used. In 1921 it became the official Czech name. In 1930 there were 964 people in Wermsdorf.

After the Munich Agreement , the municipality was annexed to the German Reich in 1938 and belonged to the Mährisch Schönberg district until 1945 . In 1939 the community had 861 inhabitants. After the Second World War, the German residents were expelled .

In the 1950s, the disused paper mill burned down. In 1975 Vernířovice was incorporated into Sobotín . The community has existed again since 1994.

Attractions

  • Church of St. Matthäus, the church was built in 1776 by expanding a cemetery chapel built in 1711. In the following year it was elevated to a parish church. In 1837 and 1851 extensions and renovations took place.
  • Natural monument PP Zadní Hutisko, on the Merta, northeast of the village, the second largest soapstone deposit in the Czech Republic
  • PR Bučina nature reserve, a primeval beech forest with a large ant population, at Jelení studánka, northeast of the village
  • Remnants of former mining and ecological nature trail in Švagrov
