Jestřebí (German Groß Jestreby ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located three kilometers south of Zábřeh and belongs to the Okres Šumperk .

geography

Jestřebí is located in the northeast of the Mirovská vrchovina ( Mürauer Uplands) on the Jestřebský creek. The Kalvárie (478 m) rises to the south and the Skalka (437 m) to the northwest.

Neighboring towns are Zábřeh and Skalička in the north, Ráječek in the northeast, Rájec in the east, Zvole and Slavoňov in the southeast, Řepová in the south, Pobučí in the southwest and Jestřebíčko and Nemile in the northwest.

history

Jestřebí was first mentioned in writing in 1273, when the Olomouc Bishop Bruno von Schauenburg sold the village to the Müglitzer Vogt Hermann. In 1408 the episcopal feudal administration was relocated from Müglitz to Mürau Castle . Since the middle of the 15th century, Jestřebí belonged to the Rájec mansion along with Rájec, Ráječek, Lupěné and Javoří.

In 1564 the Olomouc bishop Markus Kuen bought back the Lehn Rájec, which had been pledged in the meantime, and added it to the rule of Mürau. Later, Rájec was temporarily given back as a pledge. During the Thirty Years War the Swedes devastated the village. In 1644 only ten of the 28 properties were still in use. In the hoof register of 1677 there are 22 properties for Jestřebí, five of which were desolate. The originally purely Czech settlement was increasingly Germanized after the Thirty Years War. In the sister village Jestřebíčko, however, the Germans have always represented the majority of the population. In 1834 Jestřebí had 409 inhabitants and consisted of 56 houses.

After the abolition of patrimonial Velké Jestřebí / Groß Gestrzeby with the district Malé Jestřebí / Klein Gestrzeby formed a political municipality in the Hohenstadt district from 1850 . In 1878 the community of Malé Jestřebí was established. In 1923 Velké Jestřebí and Malé Jestřebí were united into one municipality, which was named Jestřebí. The district Malé Jestřebí was named Jestřebíčko. In 1925 a Czech minority school opened in Jestřebí. In 1930 the community had 651 inhabitants, of which 463 were Czechs and 185 Germans.

After the Munich Agreement , Groß Jestreby was annexed to the German Reich in 1938 and belonged to the Hohenstadt district until 1945 . In 1939 631 people lived in Groß Jestreby. After the end of the Second World War, the German population was expelled .

In 1950, only 384 people lived in the community's 123 houses. At the end of 1960 the Okres Zábřeh was dissolved and the municipality was assigned to the Okres Šumperk. Pobučí was incorporated in 1976. In 2006 the community consisted of 193 residential buildings with 585 residents. The community has a coat of arms.
