Collin Raye
Collin Raye (* 22. August 1960 as Floyd Collin Wray in De Queen , Arkansas ) is a country singer and songwriter .
Life
Collin Raye's mother was a successful musician who has performed with Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash , among others . His father and an uncle were musicians too, so it was almost inevitable that Collin and his brother Scott would appear on stage for the first time as children. The brothers founded their first band, the Wray Brothers Band, in 1976. A few singles were produced, but only one of them was able to place in the lower parts of the country charts.
The band broke up in 1987, and Collin Raye then worked as a singer in Reno and Las Vegas. His marriage, entered into in 1980, ended in divorce after serious health problems for his wife and second child. In 1989 he moved to Nashville . A year later he signed a record deal with the Epic label. His debut album All I Can Be was released in 1992 and went platinum . His second single, Love, Me , reached number 1 on the country charts. The next albums In This Life , Extremes , I Think About You and The Best Of Collin Raye: Direct Hits also went platinum and My Walls Came Down went gold. The decoupled singles consistently reached the top of the charts, In This Life made it to number 1. With I Can Still Feel You he reached the top position of the country charts again in 1998. His sales success only diminished somewhat in 2001 with the album Can't Back Down .
