Scott Davis (born April 22, 1979 in Bundaberg , Australia ) is a retired Australian cyclist .

Career

Davis was Junior World Champion in team pursuit in 1997 with his Australian national teammates Brett Lancaster , Michael Rogers and Graeme Brown .

In 1999 he won a stage of the Tasmania Tour . After he rode as a stagiaire with the Mercury Cycling Team at the end of the 2000 season, Davis received his first regular contract with an international cycling team , the Italian team Panaria-Fiordo , for which he competed in the 2003 Giro d'Italia in 2003 . However, had to end the race due to exceeding the waiting period . In 2004 Davis reached the finish line in Milan as 90th overall .

After a season with the Italian-Irish Professional Continental Team Tenax-Salmilano , he joined the German ProTeam T-Mobile , later the Columbia-Highroad team , in 2005 . On the first section of the California Tour , he took second place. He started as a helper for Jan Ullrich at the Giro d'Italia 2006 , which he finished 65th overall. In the same year he finished 91st at the Vuelta a España . The following year he finished 77th at the Vuelta .

In 2009 Davis switched to the Australian professional Continental Team Fly V Australia for which he won the eighth section of the Australian Tour of Gippsland . A year later, Davis and his brother Allan were signed by the Pro Team Astana , but did not contest any Grand Tour and did not win any international races.

At the end of the season, Scott Davis retired from active cycling and competed in his final competition in the 4BU Cycling Spectacular Bundy Cup on Wheels track race. He then became the sporting director of a smaller Australian team.
