The coastal tiger beetle ( Cicindela maritima ) is a ground beetle from the family of tiger beetles .

description

The beetles are 10 to 13 millimeters long. They are similar to the dune tiger beetles , but have more intense copper-colored elytra with yellow serrated bands. The elytra is more bent backwards in this species than in the dune tiger beetles.

Occurrence

They occur in Europe and Asia in littoral habitats (on the banks of rivers , lakes and seas ). In Germany only on salt-influenced soils on the coast of the Baltic and North Sea . Their populations have declined extremely sharply due to the intensive use of suitable habitat structures through individual leisure traffic. The very few remaining populations in Germany must be expected to die out!
