Cicindela is a genus ofthe tiger beetle subfamily .

features

The bugs are big. Their underside is mostly metallic, while the upper side is usually green to brown and has a characteristic white (at least light) markings. The eyes are large, protruding, and wider than the pronotum . The upper jaw is toothed, long and protrudes far beyond the upper lip. The antennae are eleven. They sit within the roots of the upper jaw on the front edge of the forehead. The first four antennae are hairless. The wings are well developed. The legs are slender and long. In the males, the first three limbs of the anterior tarsi are clearly expanded.
