Marco Haller (born April 1, 1991 in Sankt Veit an der Glan , lives in Klagenfurt am Wörthersee ) is an Austrian cyclist .

Career

Marco Haller was Austrian champion 26 times in the youth class in road races, on the track and in cross-country.

At the European Youth Olympiad 2007 in Belgrade , he won the silver medal in the individual time trial . In 2009 he was third at the Junior World Championships for Juniors in Moscow and fourth at the European Championships in Hooglede , both in road races. In the same year he rode in the jersey of the Austrian national team for three days in the green sprint jersey at the Trofeo Karlsberg and won five stages in the highest UCI category in the junior cycling nations cup .

Haller has been a professional since 2010. First he drove for the Continental Team Tyrol , in 2011 for the Adria Mobil team and since 2012 for the Katusha team . There he was able to win a stage of the Tour of Beijing in 2012. In September 2013 he extended his contract for another two years with the Russian team until the end of 2015.

In the 2015 season, Haller surprisingly won the Tour of the Fjord in Norway after being part of the breakaway group of the day. He was also nominated for the first time by his team for the 2015 Tour de France .

In April 2018, Haller suffered serious injuries to his left leg in a collision with a car while training.
