Josef Lontscharitsch was a versatile racing driver, on the road and on the track . In 1987 he finished third at the Junior Road World Championships in Bergamo , making him the first Austrian to win a World Championship medal in the junior road race. In 1995 he was Austrian road champion; In 1998 he was able to win the national title again. In 1999 and 2000 he won the sprint jersey at the Tour of Austria . In 1999 he also won the Raiffeisen Grand Prix .
