Hans Furian

Hans Furian (born July 18, 1940 in Berlin ; † December 20, 2008 in Lustenau ) was an Austrian cyclist and national champion in cycling .

Athletic career

Furian's first international success was the second place in the Berlin stage race in 1963. A year later he achieved the greatest success of his sporting career with the victory in the domestic tour of Austria in front of the Poland Józef Beker . He was able to repeat this in 1966, this time winning the overall ranking ahead of his compatriot Rolf Eberl . In 1965 he won the Austrian state championship in road racing . In addition, there were four titles in the team time trial from 1962 to 1966. He contested several amateur country tours for the Austrian national team , where he was also able to win several stages. On the track, Furian won the title in the single pursuit in 1964 .

Professional

After his career he opened a bicycle shop in Carinthia .
