Iris Hundred Marks

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Iris Hundertmark (born September 12, 1974 in Hamburg ) is a German pharmacist who became known nationwide because of her critical attitude towards homeopathy .

Career

Hundertmark, whose mother already owned a pharmacy, graduated from high school in 1994 and then trained as a pharmaceutical-technical assistant at the Carl Engler School in Karlsruhe . From 1997 to 2001 she studied pharmacy at the Ruprecht-Karls-University in Heidelberg . After completing her studies with the 3rd state examination, she worked in a managerial position in various pharmacies in Munich and the surrounding area, before taking over the train station pharmacy in Weilheim , Upper Bavaria , in 2016 , which she subsequently converted and expanded.

"Pharmacy without homeopathy"

Hundertmark decided in August 2018 to remove all homeopathic medicines from their pharmacy's range and only issue them on medical prescription, or if the customer explicitly requests this. She justified her decision with the fact that the teaching of homeopathy was not compatible with the scientific study of pharmacy . Homeopathy does not work beyond the placebo effect ; a scientifically verifiable effect cannot be proven. For them this is also a decision of conscience; she wants to advise her customers honestly. Hundertmark made this step public. After the regional media initially reported, the case was also received nationally and internationally. There was also an intense discussion on social media under the hashtag # ApothekeOhneHomöopathie . While she said she received a lot of positive feedback from her customers, Hundertmark was partially massively criticized and hostile by colleagues. Among other things, she was accused of lacking specialist knowledge and of ignoring the alleged evidence of the effectiveness of homeopathy.

According to Hundertmark, she is the only pharmacist in Germany who consistently turned away from homeopathy and made this public. As a result, no other pharmacy showed solidarity with her.

Iris Hundertmark is an active member of the homeopathy information network .
