Johann "Hans" Lienhart (born July 17, 1960 in Fehring ) is a former Austrian cyclist and three-time Olympian (1980, 1984, 1988).

Career

He started in 1977 at the UCI Junior World Championship and was the best Austrian 32nd in road racing. Johann Lienhart was Austrian national champion in road races three times, in 1981 for amateurs and in 1983 for both amateurs and the elite. He also won several stages of the Tour of Austria for himself. In 1980 and 1985 he won the Vienna – Rabenstein – Gresten – Vienna race . In 1983 he started at the UCI Road World Championships for the first time and was classified 42nd in the amateur road race. In 1987 he won the Judendorf-Straßengel circuit race .

Lienhart started at three different Olympic Games, 1980 in Moscow , 1984 in Los Angeles and 1988 in Seoul , but without getting into the medal ranks.

In 1987 he won the bronze medal in the team time trial at the UCI Road World Championships in Villach together with Helmut Wechselberger , Bernhard Rassinger and Mario Traxl .

Today he works for a former sponsor and sells bicycles to shops all over Austria.

His son Florian Lienhart also does cycling and triathlon and works for a bike shop in Styria.

On July 28, 2020, the Austrian Anti-Doping Law Commission (ÖADR), the supervisory authority of the National Anti-Doping Agency Austria , announced that Lienhart would be banned for ten years. He had owned and passed on EPO, Genotropin and testosterone gel for his son and encouraged, instructed and supported his son in violating anti-doping regulations.
