Markus Eibegger (born October 16, 1984 in Knittelfeld ) is an Austrian cyclist .

Athletic career

Markus Eibegger won the U23 stage race GP Tell in 2006 . In 2007 he received his first contract with a Professional Continental Team with the Elk Haus-Simplon team . In the following years he became Austrian national champion on the mountain three times and once in the road race . He won numerous stages of international cycling races and in 2011 the overall ranking of the Tour de Taiwan and in 2013 the overall ranking of the Tour of Upper Austria and the Circuit des Ardennes . In 2010 he drove for the ProTeam Footon-Servetto and contested for this team the Giro d'Italia 2011 , where he was 48th, and the Tour de France , where he gave up on the 9th stage .

In 2011 Eibegger won the Tour de Taiwan , the following year and 2015 the Istrian Spring Trophy . In 2016 he won the Tour d'Azerbaïdjan .
