Tour de Taiwan
The Tour de Taiwan ( Chinese 國際 自由 車 環 台 公路 大賽 / 国际 自由 车 环 台 公路 大赛 - literally “Great International Taiwan Road Bike Tour”), also known as the “Taiwan Tour”, is an annual stage race in road cycling in Taiwan , Republic of China .
The Tour de Taiwan was first held in March 1978. The initiator was the founder of the Giant Sports Foundation , King Liu . The start and destination of the first tour was Taipei in northern Taiwan. It once led around the island through west, south and east Taiwan.
The tour has been recognized by the Union Cycliste Internationale since 2005 and has been an integral part of the Taipei International Bicycle Show (“Taipei International Cycle Show”) , which takes place every year in March . It is part of the UCI Asia Tour and has been classified in UCI Category 2.1 since 2012 .
