The Bahrain-McLaren is a cycling team from Bahrain .
The team received a license as a UCI WorldTeam from the first year of its existence, the 2017 season . In addition to Bahrain, the Taiwanese bike manufacturer Merida became the second name sponsor and bike supplier.
The founding of the team and its licensing by the Union Cycliste Internationale was criticized by human rights groups who accused the founder of the team, Prince Nasser, of being involved in the most serious human rights violations, including torture, and called the project whitewashing .
At the end of 2018, the McLaren Technology Group became a 50% shareholder in the team operator Bahrain World Tour Cycling Team through its subsidiary McLaren Applied Technologies . The focus of the partnership should be in the areas of technical cooperation, "human high performance" and marketing.
