UCI Continental Circuits

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The UCI Continental Circuits are continental racing series introduced by the UCI World Cycling Association for the 2005 season, below the UCI WorldTour (up to and including 2010: UCI ProTour ) and the UCI ProSeries introduced for the 2020 season . Among the UCI Continental Circuits include the UCI Africa Tour , the UCI America Tour , the UCI Asia Tour , the UCI Europe Tour and the UCI Oceania Tour .

Depending on the continent and the UCI category (1 and 2), ProTeams , Professional Continental Teams , Continental Teams , as well as national, regional, club and mixed teams can take part in the races of the series .

Continental leaderboards

For every Continental Circuit , the UCI creates a rating for drivers, teams and nations according to a uniform set of rules. In addition to the actual races of the Continental Circuits, points are also awarded for national championships and continental championships. This also applied to the world championships and Olympic competitions until the end of the 2016 season , provided that these races took place on the respective continent.

Up until the 2015 season, the ratings were calculated on a calendar-year basis. At the beginning of the 2016 season, the driver standings were changed based on the previous 52 weeks.

By the end of 2018, the results of all drivers in a Continental Circuit were evaluated so that drivers could appear in different continental rankings. Since the beginning of 2019, only the results of the drivers of a national association of the respective continent count. The point scales are now derived from the UCI world rankings . The results of the 10 best riders of a UCI Professional Continental Team or UCI Continental Team are used to calculate the team ranking; the best eight drivers of an association continue to count towards the nations ranking.
