Total Direct Énergie is a French cycling team .
History and organization
The team emerged from the club team Vendée U , which still exists today and was founded in 2000 as the UCI team under the name Bonjour . In 2003, the team took on the name Brioches La Boulangère and started the 2005 season under the name of the new main sponsor, Bouygues Télécom . In 2011, the rental car company Europcar took over the title sponsorship and was replaced by the energy company Direct Énergie in the 2016 season . After the mineral oil company took over Total Direct Énergie, the team was renamed Total Direct Énergie in April 2019.
From 2005 to 2009 the team drove as the UCI ProTeam and between 2010 and 2013 the team was licensed as a Professional Continental Team . After the licensing commission refused to extend the World Tour team license acquired in 2014 for the 2015 season, the team was registered as a Professional Continental Team in early 2015.
The team consists largely of drivers from France. The seat is in Les Essarts . Team boss is the former French top driver Jean-René Bernaudeau . The team's best- known driver is Thomas Voeckler , who rode in the Tour de France yellow jersey for 20 days in 2004 and 2011 .
The team is a member of the Mouvement Pour un Cyclisme Crédible (MPCC for short; German movement for credible cycling).
