Lilian Calmejane (born December 6, 1992 in Albi ) is a French racing cyclist .
Career
Calmejane won his first race on the international calendar in 2014 on the second stage of the Ronde de l'Isard , where he and his team also won the team time trial and came fourth overall. In 2015 he won his first international stage race with the overall classification of Le Triptyque des Monts et Châteaux , in which he also won a stage. That year he also won a stage of the Tour de Bretagne and the mountain classification of the Tour Alsace .
In 2016 he received a contract with the Professional Continental Team Direct Énergie and won the La Méditerranéenne junior competition . His first start on a Grand Tour was at the Vuelta a España 2016 . On the fourth stage, he achieved his greatest career success to date with a solo victory, after he pulled out of a leading group on the final climb that had formed after 40 kilometers of the 163-kilometer section.
In the spring of 2017 he won the Ratings of the stage race of the Étoile de Bessèges , the Settimana Internazionale and the Circuit Cycliste Sarthe and the mountains classification of the UCI World Tour -Rennens Paris-Nice . He achieved another Grand Tour stage victory on the mountainous 8th stage of the Tour de France 2017 , on which he broke away from an originally 50-strong top group 17 kilometers from the finish and successfully completed his solo escape despite cramps in the final kilometers.
