The 8th stage of the Tour de France 2017 took place on July 8, 2017. It led over 187.5 kilometers from Dole to the station des Rousses . There was an intermediate sprint in Montrond after 45.5 kilometers as well as mountain ratings in the 3rd, 2nd and 1st category.

The stage winner was Lilian Calmejane , who broke away from a top group of originally 50 riders 17 kilometers from the finish and successfully completed his solo escape despite cramps in the last kilometers. At the finish he was 37 seconds ahead of his former fellow-fledgling Robert Gesink and 50 seconds on the field of favorites around Chris Froome , who was defending his yellow jersey .
