Serge Pauwels (born November 21, 1983 in Lier ) is a Belgian cyclist .
Career
Serge Pauwels began his career in 2004 with the farm team of the Dutch ProTour team Rabobank . He has been driving for the Belgian Professional Continental Team Chocolade Jacques since 2006 . In his first year there he was second in the Tour de l'Avenir on the sixth section and finished the race in fourth place in the overall standings behind the winner Moisés Dueñas .
At the Tour Down Under 2007 he won the mountain prize. In 2009 he switched to the Cervelo Test Team . The following year he got a contract with Team Sky and stayed until the end of 2011. In 2012 Pauwels signed with Omega Pharma-Quick Step . With this team he won the team time trial of the Tour de l'Ain . In the 2015 Tour de France , he finished in 13th place Previously, he was at the beginning of the South African team MTN-QHUBEKA changed.
The following year he finished second on the 14th stage of the Tour de France at the mountain finish at Chalet Reynard . In addition, Serge was nominated in the same year for participation in the Olympic Games in road races in Rio de Janeiro and finished 22nd.
