The 15th stage of the Tour de France 2018 led over 181.5 kilometers from Millau to Carcassonne on July 22, 2018 .

After 9 kilometers, a third category mountain classification was held on the Côte de Luzencon . It was followed by the Col de Sié after 65.5 kilometers , a mountain classification in the 2nd category with an average gradient of 4.9% over 10.2 kilometers. After the intermediate sprint at 121.5 kilometers, the road climbed to the 1st category mountain classification, the Pic de Nore at 140 kilometers (6.3 percent average gradient over 12.3 kilometers).

The stage winner was Magnus Cort Nielsen ( Astana Pro Team ) in the sprint of a three-man leading group ahead of Ion Izagirre ( Bahrain-Merida ) and Bauke Mollema ( Trek-Segafredo ).

The first 26 riders in the daily standings were part of a top group of 29 that only formed after 47.5 kilometers. First, Lilian Calmejane pulled away from this group and won the mountain classification at the Col de Sié, before falling back 100 kilometers from the finish. Then Julien Bernard and Fabien Grellier attacked and took first and second place in the intermediate sprint, ahead of Peter Sagan , who wore the green jersey and won the sprint of the pursuers. On the climb to Pic de Nore, Rafał Majka attacked and overtook the two outliers, but was overtaken by Mollema, Cort Nielsen, Ion Izagirre , Domenico Pozzovivo , Calmejane, Toms Skujiņš and Michael Valgren 15 kilometers from the finish . Majka received the red number of the day. The doubly represented teams Trek-Segafredo (Mollema and Skujins), Astana Pro Team (Cort Nilesen and Valgren) and Bahrain-Merida (Izagirre and Pozzovivo) used their numerical superiority so that the first three five kilometers before the finish line were able to pull away . In the second chase group, Serge Pauwels fell in the target area as a result of a fall caused by Damien Howson and broke his elbow.

The group around the yellow jersey Geraint Thomas and the other favorites, from which the overall tenth attacked Daniel Martin on the Pic de Nore, but was put back in the downhill, reached the stage finish with a deficit of 13:11 minutes.

Gianni Moscon , team-mate of the two first-placed Geraint Thomas and Chris Froome ( Team Sky ), was disqualified after the end of the stage due to video evidence because he had beaten Élie Gesbert during a position battle shortly after the start .
