The 7th stage of the Tour de France 2018 took place on July 13, 2018. The flat stage led over 231 kilometers from Fougères to Chartres , making it the longest stage of the Tour of France 2018. The stage winner was Dylan Groenewegen ( Team Lotto NL-Jumbo ) in the mass sprint on the uphill straight, ahead of Fernando Gaviria ( Quick-Step Floors ) and Peter Sagan ( Bora-hansgrohe ).

After 35 kilometers, Yoann Offredo made the first long escape attempt , who is also the only mountain classification . Offredo was stopped 90 kilometers from the finish after an increase in speed due to cross winds. Then Laurent attacked Pichon , whose breakaway attempt ended 38 kilometers from the finish. Greg Van Avermaet , who was also stage 16, then won the bonus sprint and increased his lead in the overall standings by three bonus seconds to six seconds. Pichon got the red number of the day.
