Rory Sutherland (born February 8, 1982 in Canberra ) is an Australian cyclist .
Career
Sutherland drove from 2001 to 2004 for the Rabobank youth team . In his most successful year, 2004, he was Australian champion in road racing in the U23 class and won a stage each on the Thuringia Tour and the Olympia's Tour . In 2005 he switched to the professional team. In the same year he was third overall at the Tour of Denmark and won the junior ranking.
At the end of 2005 it was announced that Sutherland had tested positive for doping during the D tour . Rabobank suspended him with immediate effect and was banned for 15 months from December 21, 2005.
From 2007 Sutherland drove for US teams and mainly competed in smaller races in the USA . He won the Nature Valley Grand Prix three times . In 2012 he won the overall ranking of the UCI America Tour . The following year he moved to Tinkoff-Saxo and two years later to Movistar . As a result, he competed several times in the Giro d'Italia and the Vuelta a España . In 2018 he moved to UAE Team Emirates and had his first assignment as a Domestik in the Tour de France .
