International Thuringia Tour

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The International Tour of Thuringia was a stage race in cycling that has been held annually in Thuringia since 1975 . In the first year the race was organized as a series of competitions without an overall ranking. The race was initially reserved for amateur cyclists and, following the introduction of the standard license, it was held as a competition for the U23 age group and was most recently classified in UCI category 2.2 . The Thuringia tour was organized by TeamSpirit GmbH under the direction of Jörg Werner until 2013 . As a result of his retirement from cycling, the Thuringia Tour has not taken place since 2014.

The first tours of Thuringia took place in 1927 and 1928 under the name Quer durch Thüringen . The winner in 1927 was the Italian Adriano Zanaga and in 1928 the German Rudolf Wolke .
