Mathias Frank (born December 9, 1986 in Roggliswil ) is a Swiss cyclist .
Career
Mathias Frank finished third in the 2004 Swiss time trial championship and second in the road race . He also won the mountain championship. In the 2006 season he was runner-up in the road race of the U23 class and he won a stage in the Tour des Aéroports in Tunisia. At the 2007 Thuringia Tour , Frank was successful on one part and was able to win the overall ranking.
After he was already on the road as a stagiaire for the Gerolsteiner team in 2007 , he received a regular contract with this team that year, where he won the Black Forest GP in his first year . In the following years he achieved successes primarily in stage races , especially in the Tour de Suisse : For example, he won the mountain and sprint classification in 2010 , was second in the 2011 overall sixth and Tour de Suisse in 2014 , 33 seconds behind the winner Rui Costa . In the 2015 Tour de France he finished eighth. He could not finish the Tour de France 2016 ; at the following Vuelta a España he won the mountain finish of the 17th stage with six seconds ahead of Leopold König .
