Tour des Aéroports
The Tour des Aéroports (German Airport Tour ) is a cycling race in Tunisia . The short tour leads through Tunisia in seven stages. If possible, airports will be connected to each other in the stages. The name is derived from the Office for Civil Aviation and Airports ( French Office de l'aviation civile et des aéroports ) of Tunisia, which has been the patron of the tour since 1998. For the first time the race was held in 1997 on a national level. The occasion for the founding of the race was the tenth anniversary of the deposition of the authoritarian ruler Habib Bourguiba . In 1998 the tour became international. The 2006 and 2007 events were part of the UCI Africa Tour and had category 2.2 .
