Steffen Rein (born September 27, 1968 in Halle-Neustadt , Germany) is a former German cyclist , today's cycling trainer and organizer.

Athletic career

In the 1980s Rein drove for the SC DHfK Leipzig . His greatest successes during this time included the overall victory of the Thuringia Tour and the bronze medals at the GDR road cycling championships in 1987 in the team time trial with Uwe Raab as well as Jan Schur and Gus-Erik Schur and in 1990 in the road race . In 1987 he won the ranking for the best young driver in the GDR tour. In 1989 he won the renowned Hungarian cycling race Grand Prix Cycliste de Gemenc .

After the reunification in the GDR he switched to RSG Nürnberg and later drove for their GS III team Nürnberger . In 1991 he won the German amateur road cycling championship and in 1994 the military world championship in the individual time trial . In addition, his team finished third in the German championships with the street foursome. In 1993 he won the one-day race around the old town of Nuremberg .

Professional

After his active time, he worked from 2002 to 2004 as the sporting director of the Wiesenhof team.
