Michael Schenk (cyclist)

Michael Schenk (born November 15, 1959 ) is a former German cyclist and national champion in cycling .

Athletic career

Schenk's greatest successes came in time trial competitions . He was a member of the Olympia Dortmund club. In 1984 he was able to win the German championship in team time trial for the first time (with Hartmut Bölts , Michael Maue and Bernd Gröne ). In 1986 he won the title again with his team. He was able to conquer podium places three more times. He won his first individual title in 1983 when the German Mountain Championship won. He was able to defend this title a year later and in 1985. In 1987 and 1988 he was again German champion in this discipline and thus the most successful driver in this competition. The highlight of his career was winning the German road race championship in 1985. Then he was nominated by the Bund Deutscher Radfahrer (BDR) for the UCI road world championship , where he was eliminated from the road race. Of the traditional German races, he won around Frankfurt in 1987 and the Rollberg race in Berlin in 1988. He ended his career in 1989.
