Herbert Brehm (born December 5, 1950 - October 2013 ) was a German cyclist and national cycling champion .

Athletic career

Brehm started for the club RC CHIO Mannheim. At the German championships in team time trial in 1970, he stepped into the limelight for the first time with his club by winning the silver medal. In this discipline he also celebrated his most significant success by winning the national title in 1977 (with Algis Oleknavicius , Peter Weibel and Heinz Weis ). Two more silver medals were added in 1976 and 1978, and in 1974 he won bronze. In addition to his time trial qualities, Brehm was also a good cyclist. In 1974 he was able to win two stages of the busy Rhineland-Palatinate Tour , as well as one stage each of the Tour of Austria and the Grand Prix Wilhelm Tell in Switzerland . In 1975 he was part of the Federal German Cyclists (BDR) squad for the International Peace Tour , which he finished in 32nd place. At the race around the Henningerturm in 1976 he was also able to place very well in third place. Brehm was active as a cyclist until 1986.
