Tobias Steinhauser (born January 27, 1972 in Lindenberg im Allgäu ) is a former German cyclist .

Athletic career

In 1994 Tobias Steinhauser became German amateur champion in the team time trial with his club RSV Öschelbronn , together with Michael Rich , Uwe Peschel and Andreas Lebsanft ; in the same year he won the Tour of Slovenia and was German runner-up in road racing . In 1995 he finished the Giro delle Regioni as the winner.

In 1996 Steinhauser signed his first professional contract with Ceramiche Refin-Mobilvetta . In 2000, he finished fifth in road racing at the World Road Championships . Until 2005 he drove in various teams, most recently from 2003 together with Jan Ullrich . He started three times in the Tour de France .

Family and work

Tobias Steinhauser is the brother-in-law of Jan Ullrich, who was married to his sister Sara. After his professional career, he worked, among other things, in the production and sale of Jan Ullrich racing bikes. The master locksmith is now the owner and managing director of a metal technology company.
