Saxony tour

The Sachsen Tour International was a road bike race that was held annually in the Free State of Saxony .

The stage race was last part of the UCI Europe Tour (in UCI category 2.1). The Saxony Tour took place in July, parallel to the Tour de France , and was held for the first time in 1985. The five-day race also includes low mountain ranges through the Ore Mountains . Record winners are Jörn Reuss , Uwe Ampler and Thomas Liese with two overall victories.

In April 2010 it was announced that the race would be canceled this year due to the withdrawal of the main sponsor. The Saxony tour did not take place in 2011 either. In 2012, the new edition of the bike race was planned from July 18 to July 22, 2012, but was canceled without giving reasons.
