The 22nd Saxony Tour took place from July 19 to 23, 2006. As in the previous year, the start and finish was Dresden .
Overall victory was secured by Russian Vladimir Gussew from the US team Discovery Channel . The mountain classification decided Andy Schleck (Luxembourg, Team CSC ) of its own. Schleck also won two stages. The Belgian Wouter Van Mechelen ( Chocolade Jacques ) won the points classification . The Dutch team Rabobank took first place in the team classification.
To tour 120 riders from 15 teams to occurred (including seven ProTeam ). 98 of them reached the finish in Dresden. The most famous drivers included Danilo Hondo , Daniel Becke , Daniele Nardello , Guido Fulst , Linus Gerdemann , Dirk Müller , Stefan Schumacher , Fabian Cancellara , Robert Förster and Michael Rich .
