Pedro Horrillo Muñoz (born September 27, 1974 in Eibar ) is a former Spanish cyclist .

Life

Pedro Horrillo began his career in 1998 with the Vitalicio Seguros cycling team . His first stage win was in the Tour of Portugal in 2000 . He then switched to the Italian-Belgian team Mapei-Quick Step . In four years he won stages at the Euskal Bizikleta , the Uniqa Classic and at Paris – Nice . From 2005 Horrillo drove for the Dutch ProTeam Rabobank . At the Tour of Catalonia he was able to celebrate a stage win.

On May 16, 2009, Horrillo had a serious accident on the eighth stage of the Giro d'Italia 2009 . On the descent of the Passo Culmine San Pietro, he broke through a barrier and fell 60 meters deep into a ravine. He survived seriously injured.

In January 2010, the Spaniard announced that he would end his career as a professional cyclist, as he could no longer build on his previous achievements after the fall.
