The 21st Saxony Tour took place from July 20 to 24, 2005 . Overall winner was Mathew Hayman from Team Rabobank . The mountain classification was won by Thomas Ziegler ( Team Gerolsteiner ), first of the points classification (cycling) was Heinrich Haussler (Team Gerolsteiner). The team classification decided the team Wiesenhof for itself.

A total of 115 professionals from 15 teams competed, including six UCI ProTeams ( Crédit Agricole , Team CSC , Rabobank , Discovery Channel , Team Gerolsteiner and Team T-Mobile ), six Professional Continental Teams (including Team Wiesenhof) and three Continental Teams (including Team Akud Arnold's Security , Team Lamonta ). The most prominent starters included Torsten Schmidt , Uwe Peschel , Thomas Ziegler , Andreas Klier , Steffen Wesemann , Ján Svorada , Ralf Grabsch and Robert Bartko . The start and finish of the five-stage race was Dresden .
