Bert Grabsch (born June 19, 1975 in Lutherstadt Wittenberg ) is a former German cyclist .
Career
Bert Grabsch grew up in Seegrehna near Lutherstadt Wittenberg . At first he played soccer and was then lured into cycling by his older brother Ralf , who has since become a professional cyclist as well. In 1986 he started cycling training at BSG Chemie Piesteritz . In 1989 he moved to SC DHfK Leipzig .
In 1997 he became a professional with the Agro-Adler Brandenburg cycling team . In 1999 he moved to Team Cologne and in 2001 to the Phonak Cycling Team . From 2007 to 2011 he drove for the German team T-Mobile and its American successor team Highroad . After its dissolution, Grabsch moved to the Belgian Omega Pharma-Quickstep team for the 2012 season .
At the road world championships in 2008 in Varese , Italy, Grabs recorded the greatest success of his career to date, when he was superior with over 40 seconds ahead of the second world champion in the individual time trial . In the years 2007 to 2009 and 2011 he was each German time trial champion. At the Olympic Games in London in 2012 he finished eighth in the time trial.
After the end of the 2013 season, Bert Grabsch ended his professional career.
In his new place of residence in Brandenburg an der Havel , he has been an amateur in the cycling department of Brandenburger SC Süd 05 since October 15, 2017 .

Personal
Bert Grabsch lived for a few years in Switzerland in various places in the Kreuzlingen district ( Canton Thurgau ), including Bottighofen , Tägerwilen , on Lake Constance .
He had previously completed a commercial apprenticeship, worked for two years in a cycling shop and completed a two-year marketing course at the Swiss Marketing Academy in 2017 . In the summer of 2017, he and his family moved from Tägerwilen to Brandenburg an der Havel , where he has been working in a cycling business since September, which he intends to take over as the owner from January 1, 2018.
Grabsch is married and has two daughters (* ~ 2004 and ~ 2011).
