Sebastian Lang (* 15. September 1979 in Sonnenberg ) is a former German professional - cyclist .
Career
Sebastian Lang drove as an amateur for TEAG Köstritzer since 1998 . He was able to draw attention for the first time in 2000 when he won the bronze medal in the time trial of the German elite championships. The following season he was U23 runner-up in the individual time trial and won bronze in the same discipline at the European Championships.
In 2002, Lang switched to the Gerolsteiner team . There he won two stages in the Rhineland-Palatinate Tour in 2002, won the pair time trial in Karlsruhe with Michael Rich in 2003 and won the Tour of Denmark in the same year . In the Hessen Rundfahrt 2004 won a stage long and was at the end the overall winner. At the Tour de France 2006 he reached a third place on the 7th stage and fifth on the 19th stage , a time trial . At the 2008 Tour de France he wore the jersey of the leader in the mountain classification for three stages . He received a fourth jersey after Riccardo Ricco's team was disqualified for doping . In total, he took part in the tour seven times.
After the 2008 season he moved to the Belgian ProTeam Silence-Lotto . After completing all three “Grand Tours” for this team in 2011 , he ended his active career. He started an apprenticeship and works in the Johannesplatz sports park in Erfurt.
Sebastian Lang lives in Erfurt today .
