The 25th tour of Hessen was a stage cycle race that took place from September 13th to 17th, 2006 . The race consisted of 5 stages, one of which was an 18.5-kilometer individual time trial . For the 25th anniversary of the Hessen Tour , it was held in 2006 under the name of the 3 Land Tour of the SV and led not only through Hessen but also through Thuringia and Baden-Württemberg . The total length of the tour is approx. 725 kilometers.

The race was part of the UCI Europe Tour 2006 . In addition to several Continental teams , a total of four teams will compete in the UCI Pro Tour: Team Milram , Team Gerolsteiner , T-Mobile Team and Team CSC . The tour is very prominent with Tour de France starters Andreas Klöden , Patrik Sinkewitz , Matthias Kessler , Jens Voigt , Sebastian Lang , Georg Totschnig and Fränk Schleck .

Danilo Hondo was not part of the 3 country tour because the organizers refused him permission to start. Tour manager Christian Bergemann explained that Hondo would not receive a start number from him because he was a convicted doping offender. Hondo was banned, but a due court temporarily lifted the ban on him.
