Veroljub Salatić currently lives with his family in Cham .

Career

youth

Salatić began his career at SC Zug . After two years and the merger between SC and FC Zug, he played six more years as a junior at Zug 94 .

Grasshopper Club Zurich

At the age of 15, he joined the offspring of the Grasshopper Club Zurich in 2000 . In the 2003/2004 season he made the leap to the 1st team . Salatić can be used as a central defender or in defensive midfield . In the 2006/2007 season he was also used frequently in the UEFA Cup , as long as the Grasshoppers were represented in the competition.

Omonia Nicosia

On the 2011/2012 season he moved to Omonia Nicosia in Cyprus , where he won the Cup ( Cypriot Football Cup ) with his club .

Grasshopper Club Zurich

A year later, Salatić moved back to Zurich, where he had been working for the Grasshopper Club Zurich again since the 2012/2013 season. The team had an exceptionally strong season and led their club to cup victory ( Swiss Cup ) after a 19-year lean period . Salatić was appointed captain by the trainer.

FC Sion

In February 2015 he moved to FC Sion and signed a three-year contract.

National team

Having grown up in Switzerland, Salatić played in various categories of the Swiss national football team (most recently in 2006 U-20 ). At the U-19 European Championship and the U-20 World Championship in the Netherlands , Veroljub Salatić drew international attention for the first time under Pierre-André Schürmann, together with Blerim Džemaili , Tranquillo Barnetta and Valon Behrami . He was already traded in the national team as the future successor to Murat Yakin . His success did not go unnoticed by the Serbian Football Association . He was asked twice whether he would be willing to play for what was then Serbia-Montenegro. Each time he gave the association a negative answer. He played his last international match against England in 2006 with the Swiss U-21s, but after that he heard nothing from the Swiss Football Association. Neither Köbi Kuhn nor Ottmar Hitzfeld had ever indicated that they were interested in Salatić. Therefore, Salatić had it checked whether he could accept Serbian citizenship, which would entitle him to play for the Serbian national football team.
