Albion Avdijaj (born January 12, 1994 in Zurich ) is an Albanian - Swiss football player who is under contract with KF Tirana .

Club career

Started with clubs in Zurich and Hoffenheim

His parents came from what is now Kosovo . He started playing football at FC Red Star Zurich , where he stayed until 2003. Then he switched to the well-known Grasshoppers . In 2005 he switched to local rivals FC Zurich on loan for two years . In 2007 he returned to the Grasshoppers and played in the youth teams for another three years.

In 2010 he ventured to Germany with a one-year loan. He joined the youth department of TSG Hoffenheim. In 23 league games he was able to score 11 goals. Thanks to him, Hoffenheim was able to qualify for the finals of the U-17 Bundesliga, but was eliminated in the first round against the youth of 1. FC Köln . In 2011 he was drawn back to the Grasshoppers. He played there for the second team in what was then the 1st League Classic Group 2. In the first half of the season he only made a few short appearances or was not in the squad. It wasn't until the second half of the season that he became an important player. In 22 games he scored six goals (five of them in the second half of the season). With these achievements he made it into the Swiss U-17 squad for the first time .

VfL Wolfsburg-Jugend and another attempt at GC Zurich

In 2012 he was loaned to a German club again, this time VfL Wolfsburg . There he immediately advanced to the top striker of the U19s and scored 15 goals and four assists in 25 games . The team qualified for the championship finals and won the German A-Junior championship in the final of the 2012/13 season . Then he returned to the Grasshoppers. There he again failed to make a breakthrough in the professional squad and had to play for the second team. At the end of the season there were seven goals in 12 games.

Return to Wolfsburg and FC Vaduz

After that, his contract with Grasshopper Club Zurich ended and he moved to the second team from VfL Wolfsburg in the Football Regionalliga Nord . There he became a top performer again and scored 11 goals in 26 games in the 2014/15 season. In August 2015 he left VfL Wolfsburg and joined FC Vaduz . He made his first game in the Raiffeisen Super League on September 12, 2015 against BSC Young Boys .

National team

Avdijaj has played games for Switzerland U-17 , U-18 and U-19 so far . In 2014 he made two games for the unofficial national team of Kosovo . In 2015 he decided to play for Albania in the future. On June 16, 2015, he made his debut for Albania's U-21s against Sweden. In the 4-1 defeat, he scored the only goal. On September 3, 2015, he made his first competitive game for Albania's U-21s in the U-21 qualification in a 1-1 draw against Israel.
