Mirko Salvi (born February 14, 1994 in Yverdon-les-Bains ) is a Swiss football goalkeeper .

Career

society

Salvi began playing football with the juniors of Yverdon-Sport FC and moved to the youth team of FC Basel in 2009 . Then he played in the FCB U-16 and became Swiss champion with the team. He starts in the 2011/12 season in the newly founded NextGen Series . The U-19 team of FC Basel faced Tottenham Hotspur , PSV Eindhoven and Inter Milan in the group matches of this international tournament . In parallel, Salvi also played in the 1st division promotion with the U-21 team.

Salvi received his first professional contract with FC Basel in May 2012. For the 2014/15 season he was awarded to the second division club FC Biel / Bienne and was the goalkeeper there from the start of the season. After a year he returned to Basel and is number three goalkeeper in the team hierarchy of FC Basel after Tomáš Vaclík and Germano Vailati .

Salvi made his debut for the first team of FC Basel on December 10, 2015 in the 2015/16 UEFA Europa League game against Lech Posen (1-0 away win).

From the second half of the 2015/16 season Salvi was loaned to FC Lugano , where he prevailed as a regular goalkeeper after a few games.

In the season 2017/18 returned Salvi to FC Basel, where he is behind Vaclik the second goalkeeper in the first team.

In the 2018/19 season Salvi was on loan to FC Luzern . The Central Switzerland club took over the goalkeeper on loan from Grasshopper Club Zurich . This had only signed Salvi a few days earlier. FC Luzern secured the option to definitely take over Salvi after the 2018/19 season, which was not redeemed.

Trivia

Salvi's debut in the FC Basel jersey came about under strange circumstances. The actual number one of FC Basel, Vaclík, injured his adductors during a training session. In the away game in Poznan, Basel's second goalkeeper Vailati was used. This injured himself a few minutes before the break whistle in a dispute and could no longer participate. Salvi didn't even have time to warm up and made his debut minutes later.
