Goal Assist (Soccer)

An assist of (in Austria and Switzerland also Assist ) is in football a bobbling the ball, which is utilized by the ball receiver directly to scoring. In some statistics, actions other than assists are also counted; for example, if a goal is scored by a penalty kick or a direct free kick, the fouled player is counted as a submission giver or preparer of the goal. The template can be made with a pass , a cross , a header or with a throw- in. If the ball comes from an opposing player to the goalscorer or a goal is scored directly with a goal kick or a corner kick, no assist will be awarded to any player.

The magazine Kicker has been recording the number of assists in the German Bundesliga since 1988 and, in addition to the list of goalscorer, has a so-called scorer list in which each player receives a point for each goal they score themselves and for each goal prepared. Emil Forsberg holds the record for most assists in a season , who played 22 goals for RB Leipzig in the 2016/17 season .
