Klaus May (cyclist)

Klaus May (born August 5, 1939 in Mannheim ; † April 4, 2004 there ) was a German track cyclist and world champion.

Athletic career

In 1962 May, together with Lothar Claesges , Ehrenfried Rudolph and Bernd Rohr , was world champion in the amateur team pursuit in Milan . Then he went over to the professionals . Until 1968 he was three times German vice-champion in the single pursuit and once third. He won a title at the German championships with his club RRC Endspurt 1924 Mannheim 1963 in the team time trial on the road . In 1964 he came third in Rund um Köln . He also started in 28 six-day races , in 1965 he finished second in Münster , together with Klaus Bugdahl .
