Rupert scratches
Rupert Kratzer (born February 16, 1945 in Munich ; † September 23, 2013 in Garching near Munich ) was a German track cyclist and national cycling champion .
Five times - between 1967 and 1973 - Rupert Kratzer was German champion in the single pursuit of amateurs ; twice he was also runner-up. In 1968 he started at the Olympic Games in Mexico City , but was eliminated in the quarterfinals against the eventual Olympic champion Daniel Rebillard . In 1973 he won the bronze medal in this discipline at the UCI Track World Championships in 1973 in San Sebastián .
From 1967 to 1973 Kratzer was a member of the German national rail team and competed in several UCI rail world championships . In 1975 he ended his career after he had finished third in the German championship in the team pursuit that year with RG Munich / Augsburg .
On September 23, 2013, Kratzer died of a heart attack during kart training on a kart track in Garching.
