Peter Steiner (cyclist)

Peter Steiner (born April 9, 1944 in Munich ) is a former German cyclist and national champion in cycling .

Athletic career

Steiner initially practiced swimming . In 1961 he became a member of RV Sturmvogel Munich . With the victory at the championship of Bavaria in the single pursuit , he qualified for the national title fights in 1965 and was there German champion in the single pursuit before Karl Link . The year before, he had already finished third in the championship and had his first appearance at the UCI track world championships . He also played seven international matches for the national team this season. In 1966 he and Rainer Erdmann won the bronze medal at the German championship in two-man team driving . At the UCI track world championships in 1966 on the cycling track in Frankfurt am Main , he finished 21st in the single pursuit.
