1964 UCI Track World Championships

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The 54th UCI Track World Championships took place from September 8th to 13th, 1964 in the Prinzenparkstadion in Paris .

After a run between a Polish and a Danish sprinter, there was a physical argument: the Polish coach gave Danish driver Peder Pedersen a hook because he had allegedly obstructed his driver. The Polish federation apologized to the Union Cycliste Internationale and sent its trainer home immediately.

In the German team, however, several riders failed, as cycling wrote, "uncomfortable and unpleasant behavior", in which they enjoyed the Paris nightlife too extensively. The magazine called on the Association of German Cyclists to punish such behavior by withdrawing the nomination for the Olympic Games .

At this World Cup, which attracted particular attention in view of the Olympic Games that began shortly thereafter, none of the world champions from the previous year could defend their title.
