1959 UCI Track World Championships
The 49th UCI Track World Championships took place from August 8 to 13, 1959 on the Velodrome in the Olympic Stadium in Amsterdam . The runway was made of cement and 400 meters long. A total of around 85,000 spectators came to the finals, 60,000 of them alone.
In the single pursuit of the amateurs, the German Rudi Altig achieved his first major international success.
