Nyamira County (until 2010 Nyamira District ) is a county in Kenya . The county capital is Nyamira . 2019 lived in the county 605,576 people on 912.5 km² . 67% of the people in Nyamira County were below the poverty line in 2005.
structure
Nyamira County is divided into seven divisions: Nyamira, Nyamaiya, Nyamusi, Borabu, Ekerenyo, Rigoma and Manga. Nyamira County is divided into three electoral wards: Kitutu Masaba, West Mugirango, and North Mugirango Borabu. Under the Constitution of 2010 , the Borabu, Manga and Nyamira districts were merged under the new name Nyamira County .
education
The county has 339 primary schools and 58 secondary schools . 15% of boys and 20% of girls do not finish primary school; in secondary school, 20% of pupils drop out of school prematurely.
Healthcare
Two hospitals and 21 health centers are available to the population. There are 65,000 patients for every doctor, and an average of 65% of hospital beds are occupied by HIV- positive or AIDS- infected people. In addition to the immunodeficiency disease, malaria , respiratory diseases and pneumonia as well as skin diseases are mainly treated. The infant mortality rate was 8% in 2005, 10.5% of the children died before their 5th birthday.
