Kisumu County (until 2010 Kisumu District ) is a county in Kenya . The county capital is Kisumu . In 2019, 1,155,574 people lived there on 2009.5 km². 13.9% of households are connected to the electricity grid. The county lies on the east bank of Lake Victoria and lives mainly from subsistence farming and fishing. The literacy rate in 1996 was 28% of the female population, of the male population 31% were literate.

Kisumu County is divided into four divisions. There are six constituencies in the county, Kisumu Town East, Kisumu Town West, Kisumu Rural, Nyand, Muhoroni, and Nyakach. Under the constitution of 2010 , the districts of Kisumu East, Kisumu West and Nyando were united under the new name Kisumu County .
